No clock history for Kosovo on its own is on record. Summer time reached it through Yugoslavia, which introduced it in 1983, later than any other country in Europe. Kosovo was then an autonomous province of the Yugoslav federation under the 1974 constitution. What time zone is Kosovo in?
Central European Time, UTC+1, in winter and Central European Summer Time, UTC+2, from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. Pristina and every other town keep the same hour. The IANA time zone database lists no zone under Kosovo's name, and the clock shown here is computed from Europe/Belgrade, whose rules are identical.
When do the clocks change in Kosovo in 2026?
They went forward on Sunday 29 March 2026, from 02:00 to 03:00, and go back on Sunday 25 October, from 03:00 to 02:00. The 2027 changes fall on 28 March and 31 October. Kosovo follows the same last-Sunday rule as the European Union, though it is not a member.
Why does Kosovo have no entry in the time zone database?
The IANA database gives zone.tab entries by country code, and Kosovo has none there because its independence is not recognised by every state, although more than 100 do recognise it. The question was raised on the database's mailing list in 2013. In practice nothing differs: Kosovo keeps Central European Time with the usual summer shift, so any Central European zone gives the right hour.
Has Kosovo always used summer time?
No. Yugoslavia, which Kosovo belonged to as an autonomous province, brought in summer time in 1983 and was the last country in Europe to do so. Before 1983 Yugoslavia had kept Central European Time all year since the end of the Second World War. The rule since then has been the European one, last Sunday of March to last Sunday of October.
What is the time difference between Kosovo and London?
One hour, in both seasons. The United Kingdom keeps Greenwich Mean Time in winter and British Summer Time in summer, and changes on the same Sundays in March and October as Kosovo. When it is 08:00 in London it is 09:00 in Pristina all year.
Does Kosovo use the 24-hour clock?
Yes. Times are written on the 24-hour clock, so half past two in the afternoon is 14:30 rather than 2:30 pm, and ten at night is 22:00. Dates are written day first, as in 5.3.26 for 5 March 2026, and the week starts on Monday.
