The Labour Code of Azerbaijan grants 19 days off for holidays: five for Novruz, two each for New Year, Ramazan Bayramı and Qurban Bayramı, and one each for eight civic days, from Women's Day on 8 March to World Azerbaijanis Solidarity Day on 31 December. National Mourning Day on 20 January, for Black January in 1990, stands outside that list and is off as well. In 2026 the calendars overlapped: Eid al-Fitr fell on 20 and 21 March, the first two days of Novruz, and the second day of Eid al-Adha on 28 May, Independence Day.

Weekends do not swallow holidays. A holiday that lands on a Saturday or Sunday moves to the next working day, and a Bayram that coincides with another day off adds a working day after it. The dates of Novruz and of both Bayrams are fixed each year by the executive authority, which has to publish them before the end of December.

Four holidays in the same code are working days: State Sovereignty Day on 20 September, kept since 2024 for the operation of September 2023 in Garabagh, the Day of Restoration of Independence on 18 October, Constitution Day on 12 November and National Revival Day on 17 November.

Timeanddate files the day off for Victory Day 2026 under Monday 9 November, which is already Flag Day. The Labour Code moves a weekend holiday to the next working day, and qppstudio lists that day as Tuesday 10 November.

The transfers for 2027 are decided by the executive authority, and timeanddate's 2027 calendar for Azerbaijan states that the year's holidays have not been announced yet. That year 2 January, the first two days of Novruz, 9 May and 26 June all fall on a Saturday or Sunday, so the working days that replace them are still to come, together with the dates of both Bayrams.
