Public holidays in Andorra

Fourteen national ones, all paid, fixed by a decree of 1 October 2025. Four land on a weekend: 14 March and 15 August on Saturdays, 1 November on a Sunday and 26 December on a Saturday, which leaves ten on weekdays. Each parish may add up to four more of its own, so the total for a worker depends on where the job is.

8 September, the feast of Our Lady of Meritxell and the national day. The statue it honours was Romanesque, from the late 12th century, and was crowned on 8 September 1921; it was destroyed when its chapel burned on the same date in 1972. A replica now stands in the Meritxell basilica, designed in 1976. The day falls on a Tuesday in 2026 and a Wednesday in 2027.

Yes. Carnival Monday is on the national list, falling 48 days before Easter Sunday: 16 February in 2026 and 8 February in 2027. Offices, banks and industry close. In tourism the day may be swapped for another by agreement between employer and worker.

The same number, not always on the same dates. The decree lets businesses tied to tourism move most holidays to another day by agreement with the worker, citing the particular needs of the sector. Four stay put: 1 January, 14 March, 8 September and 25 December. If an employee works one of those four, the employer must give the day off later and add one more paid day. A holiday worked that cannot be made up in time off is paid as a working day, settled within the year or at the latest in the first quarter of the next.

No. The decree gives no substitute weekday and no extra pay when a holiday lands on an employee's weekly rest day, and it bars employers from shifting the rest day to make the two coincide. In 2027 that applies to five holidays: Constitution Day on a Sunday, Labour Day and Christmas Day on Saturdays, the Assumption and St Stephen's Day on Sundays.

Yes. The comú of each of the seven parishes may declare up to four paid holidays and must publish them in the official bulletin. In parishes divided into quarters, the four days cover both the parish-wide festivals and those of each quarter. The parish festivals themselves fall in July and August.

Five come with no leave at all: Carnival from Saturday 14 to Monday 16 February, Easter from Friday 3 April to Monday 6 April, Labour Day on Friday 1 May, Whit Monday on 25 May, and Christmas Day on Friday 25 December, followed by St Stephen's Day on the Saturday. Four more need one day of leave each: Friday 2 January, Monday 5 January, Monday 7 September before Meritxell, and Monday 7 December before the Immaculate Conception.

Good Friday falls on 26 March 2027 and Easter Monday on 29 March, giving four days off in a row. Whit Monday follows on 17 May and Carnival Monday comes earlier, on 8 February. In 2026 the Easter days were 3 and 6 April.
