Eleven public holidays stop work in Honduras in 2026, and the same eleven in 2027, with most of them packed into two stretches. Holy Week takes three, Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday, so Easter Sunday closes four days without work. October takes three more inside three weeks: Francisco Morazán's Day on the 3rd, the Discovery of America on the 12th and Army Day on the 21st.
Independence Day on 15 September and Francisco Morazán's Day on 3 October belong to the history of the isthmus as a whole: the first marks the Act of Independence of Central America of 1821, the second the president of the Federal Republic of Central America from 1830 to 1839. America's Day on 14 April reaches wider, to the founding of the International Union of American Republics at the First International Conference of American States in 1890.
A longer list of days is marked without a day off. The weekend takes more of the calendar in 2027 than in 2026. Four of the eleven fall on a Saturday or Sunday that year: Holy Saturday on 27 March, Labour Day on 1 May, Francisco Morazán's Day on 3 October, a Sunday, and Christmas Day. In 2026 only Holy Saturday and 3 October do, both on a Saturday.
